Critical Response to Reading (Video)

Whether you’re reading a textbook or difficult novel, critical reading is fundamental for getting a full understanding the text. A basic reading tells the reader only what the text says that is, the claims and facts contained in the text. A critical reading, however, also tells the reader what the text does and what it means. In other words, while basic reading is concerned with what is in a text, critical reading is also concerned with how the text is written and why it is written this way.
