How do I upload a PDF to a page in my course?
You can upload PDFs to a Page in Canvas. If you’d like, you can insert an image file directly into discussion board replies using the image icon. You can choose an image from a website URL, an image you’ve uploaded into your Canvas files, or an image from Flickr.
How do I link to a YouTube video in a discussion reply as an instructor?
You can add a YouTube video in a discussion reply by adding the URL of the video as a link to the response.
How do I add content to an Announcement in my course?
Canvas recently introduced a new page design called the New Canvas User Interface (UI). Depending on your Canvas view, your page design may vary from the images shown in this lesson. However, the functionality and location of the components remain the same.
You can add text, images, files, and link to course content if you have permission to create or edit announcements.
How do I add an external RSS feed to an Announcement?
RSS, also known as Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication, is a web feed format that publishes frequently updated information from external websites such as blogs, news headlines, audio, and video. RSS feeds benefit users who want to receive timely updates from favorite websites or to aggregate data from many sites.
Instructors can add an external RSS feed to a course announcement, and students can add an external RSS feed in a group announcement. This lesson shows how to add an external RSS feed in a course, but the steps are the same.
Please note that when you create the RSS feed, only future feed content will be pulled into the announcement; it will not pull any existing or backdated content.
What do the icons and colors in the Gradebook represent?
There are different icons and colors in the new Gradebook. Depending on how you grade assignments (manually or otherwise), you will see different icons or colors.
Icons and colors are simply gradebook indicators to assist you with course grading. All assignments count toward a student’s total grade unless they are excused assignments.

Zoom
Make your Zoom meetings fun and showcase your personality!
The virtual background feature allows you to display an image or video as your background during a Zoom meeting. This feature works best with a physical green screen and uniform lighting to allow Zoom to detect the difference between you and your background. You can upload your own images or videos as a virtual background, or use nothing and just blur the background. You can also use Virtual Background in a Zoom Room.

Third Party Vendors
Many of the courses utilize 3rd party vendor tools that provide some of the academic content in the course. Some examples of this are KnowledgePath, Pearson’s MyLabs, Labster, Cengage’s MindTap, McGraw Hill Connect, and Harvard Business Review. Each 3rd party vendor has a different method of connecting to the canvas course. Some products require faculty to perform some setup tasks in order to correctly connect within your course. Specific instructions are provided by your Program Director and/or found directly in the canvas course.
