Writing Support

Check out these helpful resources as you work to refine and enhance your research paper:

  • Tutor.com

Want additional support with your paper?  Submit your paper to Tutor.com to receive additional feedback and recommendations from a writing tutor.  Make sure you provide at least 48 hours between the time of your submission and your assignment due date.  You can access Tutor.com directly by clicking on the Tutor.com Online Tutoring link in the left-hand navigation pane of your course.

The writing process is iterative and will require you to continuously revise your work based on the weekly feedback provided by your instructor.  If you are not familiar with how to view assignment feedback in the gradebook, please take a moment to review these instructions.

See this guide to writing in psychology with hints on how to write a literature review and a good summary of formal writing rules.

This online resource provides students with information on how to make the most of the revision and editing phase of the writing process.  This tool provides both a printable and an interactive revision and editing checklist for students to follow as they review their work. A brief video clip is included at the end so that students can see these principles in practice.

This online source provides helpful information and tips to integrate the research articles you have identified to support your own statements and ideas.  This section will explain summarizing, paraphrasing, and quoting.  Remember, direct quotes should be used sparingly.
