Tips for Online Success
- Read the syllabus! Do not just click on the left-hand side of the syllabus tab and see when assignments are due, as the syllabus provides specific information regarding the expectations for the course and descriptions of all assignments. Be sure you understand the assignments and if you do not ask questions early, six weeks can go by very fast.
- Follow discussions directions and rubrics. Discussion Forum Assignments Directions are located in each discussion question.
- Review each set of directions and every grading rubric paying special attention to the competencies and outcome as grading is based on achieving those competencies and outcomes. Also, the rubrics contain the criteria for grading of your work.
- I cannot assess and grade your learning unless you demonstrate that you are researching and reading all the required readings. ALL of your discussion posts (original and replies), papers and assignments should include references/citations from the outside research to demonstrate learning. Do not just copy and paste, but summarize and analyze what you have read to demonstrate your critical thinking skills.
- At the beginning of each & every week read the Weekly Overview to ensure that you meet all of the required assignments.
- Check your e-mail and ANNOUNCEMENTS in the course daily; if you don’t you may miss important information related to the week.
- Please be sure to read and review the new discussion directions and discussion rubric.
- I will adhere to the attendance & late work policy outlined in the syllabus. Be sure to read it and ask any questions. Discussions are NOT accepted late for any reason, they must be posted on time.
- For papers be sure to follow APA guidelines. All papers should have a title page, brief abstract, main body (introduction/facts & statistics/conclusion with student analysis) and a citation sheet.
I hope this is helpful, and again I want to welcome you to the class!
