The Faculty Early Alerts tool allows you the opportunity to intervene early, with a targeted communication to the student’s advisor.  It is best practice to first reach out to the student directly via phone, email or Canvas messaging.  If you’ve reached out to the student and feel as though she would benefit from additional support or follow-up from her advisor, we then recommend submitting the Early Alert. Given our accelerated nature, it’s very important that we use this tool early on in the session in order to offer effective interventions to support student success.  When you submit an Early Alert, the student’s academic advisor is notified so they can reach out to the student to offer additional support and resources.

• Student is missing assignment(s)
• Low participation
• Low grades
• Late assignments
• Student requiring support services
• Personal hardship
• Student not responsive to faculty outreach
• High performing student
